Fall is in the Air–Not!

It’s October 4th and it was 78 degrees here today – absolutely gorgeous.  Yesterday a friend and I took a trip up to Mennonite country and the fall colours were beautiful.  It’s just far enough north of here that they have had frost and the trees were ablaze with colour.

Here’s a little bag I made out of Moda’s Honey Bun strips.

I believe the pattern is on the Moda Bake Shop website, but I purchased it as a kit.  It was so easy to do and went together perfectly.  It would be a great pattern to use up small strips.

We have had quite a summer around here with wildlife.  First our neighbourhood was overrun with foxes – at one point there were at least 10 of them and it was quite scary as they were around at all times of the day and night.  Thankfully, they seem to have moved on and here is one of our latest visitors:

At first, I thought he was going to climb on the float.

All he wanted was a drink – I guess he didn’t mind the chlorine.

After about 15 minutes, he just wandered off – he wasn’t in the least bothered by me out there taking pictures, although I didn’t want to get too close!

I hope you can click on these pictures to enlarge them.  There must be a family of them around as we heard them having a party on our roof one night.  It sounded like baby elephants up there.

I’m working on a Monterrey Medallions quilt.  So far, I’ve done more ripping than sewing as I wasn’t happy with the background fabrics I chose.  I spent the day ripping and re-sewing today and I’m much happier with it now.

I have the 40 stars made that go around this, as well as the pieced border,  but I may need to replace the backgrounds on some of them too.  It’s not easy being so anal.
