Someday I’ll Be Saturday Night

I’ve been going through what are quite possibly the worst couple of weeks of my life and unfortunately the worst isn’t over yet.

The short version is my Mum has mixed dementia/Alzheimer's and is in hospital waiting to go into a care facility.  We also found out that Leo needs triple by-pass surgery as soon as possible so we are waiting for a date for his surgery.  Enough said.

I haven’t been able to concentrate on much anything but I have produced a few mindless items.

I made these for Sandra for Valentine’s Day.

His & Hers Towels 003

They fit in perfectly with her obsession with penguins.

I also managed to do two more baby quilts.  I love this fabric so much, I don’t know what I’m going to do when the bolt is finished.  This pattern is from Mary’s website.

Our Retreat Group was asked to donate a quilt for a fundraising auction at the place where they hold the retreats.  Grace donated a beautiful king sized top and I volunteered to quilt it.  I could kick myself that I didn’t get a picture, but I was anxious to get it finished and on to the next person for binding.  I’m sure someone along the line will get a picture so I can share it then.

For those of you puzzling over my post title, it’s a Bon Jovi song which goes something like this….

Hey man, I’m alive, I’m taking each day and night at a time; I’m feeling like a Monday but someday I’ll be Saturday night……My life’s a bargain basement all the good shit’s gone!

Seriously though, we WILL get through this and things will get better.

I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties. I hope your Mom will do well at the care facility she is going to. I'm going through the same thing with my elderly father.

Ah, life. It does have its ups and downs. But we keep putting one foot in front of the other and eventually our valleys turn into peaks again. Hang in there, my friend. Keep thinking those good thoughts. No bad thoughts. xoxo

HI Irene,
Sending you positive thoughts and warm wishes as you deal with these difficult challenges.
My mother in law has Alzheimers and it is a very difficult illness for one and all. My heart goes out to you.
My mother in law is well cared for in the home in which she lives. The staff all love her - She lives in Victoria and my husband tries to go and visit when he can. The best part of her being in care is that we know that she is safe and well cared for- the process to get her there was difficult and emotional.

I hope all goes well with Leo's surgery.
If you get a minute do stop by my blog. I am participating in OWOH blogging festival. I am a giving away 3 handmade bracelets- if you like bracelets- you may like these.

You can find it here-

Warmest regards,
Anna

Hang in there Irene, eventually things have to get better. Has Leo's surgery been scheduled yet?

I think I told you that Keith just moved his mother so I can relate to the challenges to some degree.

Love the Strippies!
