Blooming Quilt

I’m ashamed to admit that we don’t have a quilt on our bed.  We both prefer a duvet, but we just bought a new headboard recently and I think the bed is crying out for a quilt.

I decided to make a Blooming 9 Patch and here are the fabrics I’m using:

I have all but one of the strip sets finished and since I’m going on Retreat this weekend, I hope to come home with a finished top.  That might be optimistic as I get bored quickly, but that is my aim.

Last week, I went to Ste. Anne’s Spa with two ‘old’ friends.  It’s located in the middle of nowhere in an idyllic country setting with amazing views.

The blue in the lower part of the picture is Lake Ontario and this was the view outside our window.

We took a one hour walk through a cedar forest and when we came to the opening, the Spa was ahead on the hill.  There was still a lot of colour, as you can see.

I think I’m a very brave woman for posting this next picture of me without a drop of makeup!!!  This is my forever friend, Trudy.  We’ve been friends since we were 5 – you do the math!

I had to chuckle over your comment that, as a quilter, you do *not* have a quilt on your bed. :-)

May I join your club? [grin]

I've made over 140 quilts, of all different sizes, and have even kept quite a number for ourselves. But does one appear on our bed?

Nope! We have a down duvet and duvet cover. And that one was store-bought! heh .. don't think it doesn't mock me every day. :-)

One of these days, I'll think very strongly about making a patchwork duvet cover using the sew-n-flip technique so there won't be any nasty seam allowances showing on the inside. Sounds like a good plan and I'll continue thinking about it. :-)

happy quilting!

Well I am in the same club made lots of quilts and no quilt on our bed. My hubby likes the duvet too. In the winter I always sneak a quilt on top of the duvet on my side lol. Sounds like you had a wonderful day at the spa. Nice photo of you, don't need make up.

The spa looks beautiful, and you look great. Can't wait to see your finished quilt top. Have a great weekend at the retreat!

You look great without makeup. Envy! No quilt on our beds either. I have one for the guest room, but keep the decorator one on that matches the drapes...sigh. You can make a quilt top into a duvet cover. Why not?
