Saturday Ramblings

They were able to get our furnace running well enough to last until Monday when they come to install the new one. Just think how much fabric I could have bought with that money. Maybe I'll have to go downstairs every so often and fondle the furnace but I doubt it would give me the same satisfaction as fondling my fabric.

I quilted and bound the Stash Box quilt.

We had a speaker at our Guild several months ago and she bound the majority of her quilts with striped fabric cut on the bias. They were really effective so I wanted to give it a try. I had some in my stash that I thought worked well with the colours in the quilt.

I used Superior's Lava variegated thread on this one. I really like this thread. It comes in some wonderful colours, quilts like a dream and looks great on the quilt. What more could you ask for?

If you don't waste enough time on the computer already, here is a site sure to entertain.

The quilt is even more gorgeous now that it's quilted and bound! I love that quilting design, and the binding looks awesome! I've used striped binding before but not cut on the bias...very effective!

Thanks for the cute website, I could look at the sleepy puppies all day!

I enlarged the photos before I read the text in your blog and noticed the binding immediately. I LOVE it! I also really like how the black sets off the rest of the quilt. Very, very pretty!

Glad to hear you are warm!

I love that quilting design, it goes so well with the boxy squares. I would be checking out my furnace all the time if I had a new one, 'cept it's in the attic. There are very few basements in California. Know why?

It's not because of earthquakes.

It's about cost. They build 'em cheap here. Everybody puts their stuff in the garage and parks in the driveway. Or rents a storage locker. Kinda stupid if you ask me. But they didn't ask me.

I've always read the tip about doing bias bindings for striped fabrics but am usually too lazy. I did find a great stripe that was printed on the diagonal that I used for bindings once...I think I still have a piece of it left.
