Blue, Blue, My World Is Blue

No, not my mood, my design wall. Since I did make a very small dent in my green stash, I decided blue was next on the list. This is what I've accomplished so far:

These double four patches are supposed to be random - not light and dark. Here's the rest of the quilt:

I still don't have everything cut, but I don't always do all my cutting first anyway - I'm much too impatient to get started sewing. It would probably make things easier if I was a bit more methodical and organized, but I doubt that will ever happen.

I bought Judy Martin's Log Cabin book on Friday and I was reading it last night.

I must admit I don't often 'read' quilt books, I tend to look at the pictures and read the patterns. I love Judy's quilts and she makes some excellent suggestions in this book. One of them is to buy a cutlery organizer or desk organizer to keep your strips organized when doing log cabins. What a great idea and I'm sure the concept would work for other quilts too!

One of the quilts at the top of my 'to do' list is Judy's Shakespeare in the Park.

If you want to see some great quilts (and kill even more time), check out this link to pictures of all the quilts inspired by Judy's various books. There are some beautiful quilts in this gallery.

Gosh! I haven't thought of that song in ages...now I will have it stuck in my head! The blues in your quilt are very nice. I like "real" blue!

have you seen Judy's Virginia Stars sampler? it looks alot like Shakespear in the Park but there are some different stars. I have fabric pulled...but I'm too overwhelmed to start something new!
