This Was Fun

I spent the day making more strippie quilts with the circus border fabric. I did this one:

Then this one:

The good news is I got all 3 quilt tops out of approximately 41 inches of circus fabric. The bad news is I have about 14 yards left. I think lots of charities are going to be getting one of these quilts!

Question - do you think these are appropriate for a baby gift? My friend Sandy is always telling me that babies like bright colours, but I've always associated baby gifts/quilts with pastels. Am I just old fashioned? Please tell me if you think these would be too old to give to a baby. I think they would be great for a two year old, but I'm just not sure about giving them as a baby gift.

Leo's been sick in bed all day which is probably why I got so much done. I gave him two of my magic pills this morning and just gave him two more. That's as far as my nursing goes - I'm not good with sickies.

If I can summon up some energy I might get one of those tops loaded tonight, but I'm not sure it will happen. Ben is complaining that he has been neglected all day, so maybe I'll just snuggle on the couch with him and watch some TV.

I think those are perfect Irene! Babies grow to 2 years really quick! But i certainly think they are more than appropriate for a baby as well!

Hope Leo feels better soon AND that you don't get sick!

OK I guess somehow I screwed up earlier.

I LOVE your strippie quilts ... perfect.

Yes babies love color. Per
www.babycenter.com it says:
2 months: Your baby could see color from birth, but he had difficulty distinguishing similar tones, such as red and orange. That's one reason he preferred black-and-white or high-contrast patterns. For the next few months, his brain's at work learning to distinguish colors. As a result, he'll probably begin to show a preference for bright primary colors and more detailed and complicated designs.
4 months: develope depth perception.

I can't wait to see them after your have quilted on your Millie (APQS). I'm SO happy you bought a new machine.

I think they look great too and they'd be perfect for a baby. A lot of the ones I do have gone to Catholic Charities for kids from 0-3 years old. Since little ones get attached to their blankets it's kind of nice to have one that grows with them a bit.
